A Lincolnville man will spend 14 years behind bars for the death of his roommate last year.
Matthew Pendleton had originally been charged with murder for the death of 49-year-old Kevin Curit, but he was found guilty on the lesser charge of manslaughter in February.
Pendleton was arrested on Jan. 7, 2023, the day after he called police to report that Curit was unresponsive at the home they shared on Thorndike Road in Lincolnville.
He was sentenced on Monday to 20 years with all but 14 years suspended followed by four years of probation.
According to the Bangor Daily News, prosecutors said Pendleton beat and strangled Curit after coming home to find a mess in the kitchen.
