Police are investigating a shooting after issuing a shelter-in-place order in Bath, Sunday morning.

The shooting happened shortly before 7 a.m. in a residential neighborhood, Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety said.

Moss said there is no danger to the public and described the incident as “resolved.” The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central and the Bath Police Department are investigating and interviewing witnesses.

Residents of North Street were initially asked to shelter in place, remove keys from vehicles, lock all doors and remain in their homes away from windows.

In an update at just after 9 a.m., Bath police said there is no current danger to the public and lifted the shelter-in-place order.

Police had blocked Oak Grove Avenue and Crawford Drive and were detouring traffic in the area on Sunday morning.

Moss said additional information would be released later in the day Sunday.
