Three people have been accused of stealing over-the-counter medication and other merchandise from the Brunswick Hannaford.
Angie Cubillos, 24, Alan Rodriguez, 38, and Marlene Santaelle, 29, all of New York, were charged with theft by receiving stolen property and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, according to the Brunswick Police Department.
Both Cubillos and Rodriguez were charged as fugitives from justice because they are wanted in California and New Jersey on similar charges, Brunswick police said Thursday.
The trio was allegedly stealing large quantities of over-the-counter medications and beauty products at the Elm Street store about 12:04 p.m. Wednesday.
Police located Cubillos, Rodriguez and Santaelle in their vehicle a short distance away from the store.
They are suspected of participating in an organized retail theft ring and had victimized other stores in Maine, according to police.
A search of their vehicle turned up about $32,000 in over-the-counter medications and other merchandise.
All three were taken to the Cumberland County Jail in Portland, where Santaella’s bail was set at $1,500, while Cubillo and Rodriguez were denied bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
