Mount View middle and high schools were evacuated at about 1 p.m. Tuesday after a handwritten bomb threat was found in one of the schools, according to Deputy Jordan Tozier, a school resource officer for Regional School Unit 3.
By 2:30 p.m., police were still searching the school property on Route 220 using dogs, but no one was hurt and all students had left the premises by 2 p.m.
“No injuries,” Tozier said. “All students have been transported home at this point.”
Rescue workers and members of the Maine State Police and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office were also at the scene.
April Leeman, an assistant principal at the middle school, said she did not have more information.
“They said evacuate the building, and I said OK,” Leeman said.
