A Rockland man will serve five years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl hundreds of times, the Midcoast Villager reported.
In a plea deal, Kyle Erik Gott was sentenced on Monday to 10 years with all but five suspended for gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact, according to the Villager.
The Knox County judge reportedly accepted the agreement because Gott had no prior criminal record and had accepted responsibility immediately after he was caught, according to the newspaper.
After he is released, he will be barred from contact with anyone younger than 18 years old. He also must undergo mental health and sex abuse counseling.
Gott abused the victim for eight years starting when she was 12 years old. He was arrested on July 31, 2024, according to previous reporting by the Pen Bay Pilot.
