The man found dead after a house fire in Harpswell earlier this month has been identified.
The fire broke out in the Sea Mist Lane home about 12:42 a.m. on March 9.
Harpswell firefighters got the blaze under control, and no one was initially found inside the home, believed to be a seasonal residence.
But after investigators conducted a more extensive examination, they discovered a man’s body in the home. The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Joseph Meuse, Moss said in a Friday email to the Bangor Daily News.
Moss said that the cause of the fire is currently undetermined, but the investigation is ongoing.
A cause and manner of death weren’t immediately available.
