A man was found dead Sunday inside a burned Harpswell home.
The fire broke out in the Sea Mist Lane home about 12:42 a.m., according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Harpswell firefighters got the blaze under control, and no one was initially found inside the home, believed to be a seasonal residence, Moss said Wednesday.
But after investigators conducted a more extensive examination, they discovered a man’s body in the home, Moss said.
The body was taken to the Maine medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where the man’s identity will be determined.
Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire undetermined because of the extent of the damage.
The investigation is ongoing.
No additional information was immediately available.
